General
You can register on-line via our website or if you’d prefer, please contact the office and they can issue the relevant forms to complete. Please be aware that Identification must be provided.
We may need to contact you at any point regarding your purchases or to approve you to bid online. If we are unable to contact you, we reserve the right to not approve your account. To avoid any delay, please provide as many details as possible.
Yes. The standard rate is charged at 10% on the first £3,000 or lower and 2.5% on the remaining balance where applicable per lot.
Yes. In order to bid, all buyers are required to pay a deposit. The minimum deposit is £/€ 1,000. The deposit paid will determine what maximum spend is authorised e.g.
- £1,000 deposit will allow for a credit limit of 10,000
- £5,000 deposit will allow for a credit limit of £25,000
- £10,000 deposit will allow for a credit limit of £50,000
If you require a higher credit limit, a further 10% of your projected spend will be required.
Please note that any fees incurred in your transfer of your deposit are at your own expense.
Please ensure where possible, that your deposit is paid before auction day.
You can pay your deposit by various methods:
- Bank Transfer – must be received before a bidder number can be assigned
- Card Payment – Please note that card transaction charges will apply (this also includes the refunds of any deposits.
- Cash – Please note that cash limits apply under the Money Laundering Regulations
Yes. Funds will be returned as soon as possible after the auction (minus any fees incurred if a card was used for the original deposit transaction).
Your credit limit is set as a measure to protect yourself. You choose your credit limit when you register and it prevents you from spending more than you intended in any one auction. This limit re-sets itself for each auction. Please be aware that you cannot bit above your credit limit.
Yes. You can increase or decrease your credit limit at any time. Please visit the ‘My Account’ section of our website or contact the office. Please note that increasing your credit limit may require an additional deposit.
Yes. Bidders are reminded that all lots purchased on your bidding number are the bidder’s responsibility. Your bidding number should not be given to anyone else unless special authority is given. You would need to provide a letter/email from the director of the company authorising a representative to bid on your behalf. Please note that Pre-Bids can be made and the auctioneer would execute these on your behalf during the auction or you can use the online bidding platform. You will need to ensure you are registered for the auction.
Yes, our Terms and Conditions remain the same.
No. Your Internet Bidder number applies to online bidding only. If you attend the live auction, you must sign in at Reception and you will be assigned an auction catalogue which will contain your bidding number.
Yes. Viewing or testing plant and machinery can be carried out prior to an auction and only when a member of yard staff is present. We will open for viewing from the Monday before auction day (unless Bank Holiday).
Our auctions will be carried out in GBP with the Euro conversion displayed.
Invoices will be raised and issued to the details provided after the auction has finished. Full payment is required within 7 days of the auction date. No items will be released until full and final payment has been received in cleared funds. All payments must be made via BACS payment.
We will raise the sales invoice direct to the finance company. Once payment has been received, items can be collected
Items can be collected once full and final payment has been received in cleared funds. Please contact the office to arrange collection.
Yes. A VAT invoice will be issued in the first instance. If export documents are received within a timely manner (no longer than 3 months of the date of purchase) a VAT credit note/refund will be issued.
The onus is on the new buyer to obtain documents if the item was sold without them.
Selling
Please get in touch with the team. You can do this by completing the ‘Contact Us’ form via our website or contact the office on 01565 740890 or info@williamsauctions.co.uk. You will be issued with a Contract to Auction form to complete and submit.
We auction machinery and equipment across all industrial verticals. Whether you are an established company, dealer or a private seller we have a customer service driven solution to help you realise the best prices for your items in our on-site auctions that are also broadcast live to online bidders globally.
Once your items have been inspected and consigned to William Auctions we can assist with transport of equipment. We will then photograph and video items to be displayed with full details on the Williams Auction website.
Our auctions are marketed in trade publications, on the internet.

We can accept deliveries at any point which is suitable with the Vendor throughout the working week and working hours. Out of hours deliveries can be accepted through special arrangements. We will issue deadlines for Stationary Stock and Rolling Stock.
All documents need to be handed into the office prior to the auction. You can either send them when the vehicle is delivered or they can be posted to our office. You must declare if no documents are available. If documents are not received in a timely manner, items will be sold without them.
Our auction site is monitored by 24-hour CCTV Surveillance and we will do all we can to keep your items safe but the responsibility remains that of the Vendor. We recommend that items remain insured until items have been sold and paid for.
Our sales are marketed online and in print media. All items will be published in our auction catalogue on the build up to the action and we use external bodies such as Machinery Trader to place auction adverts. Auction Preview booklets will also be printed and emailed to new and existing customers. We also actively promote on social media such as Instagram and Facebook.
Any consignments listed and/or in any publication and not delivered by the vendor will be subject to a surcharge of £1,000 per item or 10% of the book value of the item (whichever shall be the greater) plus VAT.
Yes. Where applicable Lots are subject to a HPI fee of £6 plus VAT. Additional checks may need to be carried out.
